http://lucy.ukc.ac.uk/Collage.gifThe Ethnographics Gallery is a publication of the the Centre for Social Anthropology and Computing at the University of Kent,  actively developed between 1986 and 2007, and now available for reference with minor revisions.  Beginning in 1986 under the name Social Anthropology Bulletin Board, migrating to Gopher in 1990, then to the web in May 1993 as one of the first 200 web servers on earth, before changing its name in January 1994 to become the Ethnographics Gallary, the first major site for anthropology. Publication continued as a serial until late 2007. The Gallery is no longer maintained other than minor fixes to some pages within, and updating the applications within so that they continue to function on today's web. However, many of the pages from the Gallery have or will migrate in a new form to the CSAC site.

The Gallery remains online as an archival resource. Over 100,000 people a year using the Gallery, with downloads per annum well in excess of 10,000,000 pages.
